Upcoming Events ⭑ Max’s 12th Birthday Bash!
This year marks our 5th year fundraising in honor of Max’s birthday and sadly, our sixth birthday without our beloved Superhero.. For Max’s 12th Birthday his mama Dayna will be cycling again in the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, Alberta’s largest cycling fundraiser in support of life-changing cancer research and care.
This year our goal is to raise $12,000 in the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer to support the amazing work of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. From ground-breaking research and clinical trials (including those that will help pediatric patients), to patient financial assistance, critical tools and equipment and more, ACF is committed to providing more moments and more hope to those facing cancer. And thanks in part to the hard work of ACF staff and volunteers, and of course the generous donors, the doors of the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Canada are now open in Calgary, the Arthur Child.
This amazing cycling event is held on July 20th and 21st, the day before Max’s birthday, so it seemed like a fitting way to celebrate our Max and help others facing cancer in his name.

Max’s 11th Birthday Bash We Rode to the Max in 2024!
In year four we managed to beat our two previous years to raise $17,950 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation!
Max’s 11th birthday brought a bit of a change to our annual fundraiser. Max’s mom Dayna decided to take part in the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, a massive cycling event in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. This event has raised over a $100 million dollars in support of cancer care, treatment and prevention in our province, which has also included many pediatric research and treatment initiatives. Dayna’s mom actually works for the Foundation and sees first hand the amazing impact they are having for those facing cancer today and in the future, such as the building of the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, the second largest of its kind in North America.
This ride was a two-day event where cyclists ride up to 200km, after fundraising as individuals or teams. This event was gruelling and not for the faint of heart, but with the help of an e-bike and the courage of Max, Dayna managed to finish the event and ride around 175km. The passion and emotion of this event was palpable and the impact of cancer was prevalent, but the commitment of these riders, volunteers and workers made for an unforgettable experience.
Our fundraising efforts included direct solicitation, the usual online auction and the WESTJET Gift of Flight Raffle. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our friends, family, supporters and donors for your help in yet another astounding fundraising year. From direct donations, to auction contributions and bidding, to raffle ticket purchases to spreading the word. Truly none of this is possible without the incredible community of supporters we have, we are blessed to have an army that helps us celebrate Max and his legacy.
Thanks to the generosity of WestJet who has donated for a Gift of Flight for our fundraising raffle, for four years in a row!
Max’s 10th Birthday Bash Another incredible year in 2023!
Our third fundraiser celebrating Max’s milestone 10th birthday, raised $17, 683.00 for Kids Cancer Care.
For Max’s milestone 10th birthday, our amazing donors helped us raise an incredible $17, 683.00 - even more than last year! The funds go to our favorite charity, Kids Cancer Care (KCC), to provide a variety of critical supports and services to kids and families battling cancer.
Maintaining our connections and friends in the cancer community, allows us to not only experience the support and resources from Kids Cancer Care as a bereaved family, but to continue to see how KCC is making a difference for other kids and families facing cancer. From the pivotal therapeutic exercise program (PEER), to their Child Life and Counseling Services, the beloved Camp Kindle and everything in between, KCC is a beacon of hope and support to kids and their families facing the unthinkable.
NONE of this would be possible without all the incredible friends, family and donors that continue to help us raise make a difference for those facing cancer. We can’t thank you enough for helping us spread joy in Max’s name.
WESTJET once again generously donated their Gift of Flight, which was a significant contribution to our fundraising total. Thank you for your help to our family over the years.
Max’s 9th Birthday Bash The Success Continues in 2022
Our second fundraiser in honour of Max’s birthday, raised $17,712.00 for Kids Cancer Care.
Our second MSF fundraiser in honor of Max’s 9th birthday, raised another whopping $17,712..00, which was almost DOUBLE our goal of $9000!! The funds go to our favorite charity, Kids Cancer Care (KCC), to provide a variety of critical supports and services to kids and families battling cancer.
A significant (and expensive) service that KCC provides is Camp Kindle, a safe and inclusive camp designated for kids and their siblings who have or continue to face a cancer diagnosis. A core purpose of MSF is to help families facing medical challenges find joy and laughter, despite their hardship… just as Max did every day.
Last year we were honored to be invited by KCC to tour Camp Kindle with their staff and Inspirational Founder, Christine McIvor and see first hand this magical place where kids can forget their worries and just be kids.
We continue to be amazed by the generosity of so many of you through our raffle, online auction or our direct donation link. We can’t thank you enough for helping us spread joy in Max’s name.
A HUGE thanks goes to our friends at WESTJET who continue to support us with their Gift of Flight, which is a signifcant part of our overall funds raised. We love you WestJet.
Max's 8th Birthday Bash
Inaugural Success in 2021!
This incredible event raised $21,316.81 for Kids Cancer Care, specifically Camp Kindle and Family Day.
As the first fundraiser of the new Maximilian Schuster Foundation, we were blown away by the support and our ability to almost TRIPLE our goal of $8000 in support of Kids Cancer Care. This $8000 will fund a "Playday" for cancer kids and their families at the beloved Camp Kindle. Helping children and their families have fun and find joy during difficult times is the core goal of the foundation and we are proud to support this initiative for Max's special day.
The excess raised will also go towards the excessive maintenance and other programs offered by this incredible site. Given this facility is used by families with medical requirements and special needs, the requirements and standards are costly to maintain. We are proud to offer support through this amazing organization and help cancer kids and they families find normalcy and joy.
We honestly can’t thank you enough for showing up for us in a such a huge way in our first ever fundraiser. Spreading joy and helping others facing cancer is the best way we can think of to honor our beloved Max and we couldn’t do it without you.
A very special thanks to our dear friends at WESTJET for their generous Gift of Flight which was a critical part of our Fundraiser. WestJet holds a special place in our hearts and we are grateful for their help.
Our amazing donors came through again for an updated total of $17,683.00!
Thanks to our generous donors, the above amount was updated to $17, 712.00 for KCC in 2022.
Our behind the scenes tour of Camp Kindle in September 2022.
The above amount was later updated to $21, 316.81 in our first ever MSF Max Birthday Fundraiser!
